Athletic update; Friday Night Belongs To Elmira!

Hello Again,

Last Friday I had a chance to catch the both Soaring Eagle basketball teams in action against Alfred University. Both games we close but our EC teams pulled it out in the end. Women's basketball won in overtime and the Men protected their lead down the stretch. During a late time-out the announcer told the Elmira College fans that Men's Hockey won at the Domes 9-2 against Lebanon Valley College. At the time the Soaring Eagle Men had a small lead and the crowd was cheering for a win. After the announcement the crowd erupted and shortly after the Men closed the deal on Alfred and pulled out the win. After I got home I checked the score of the Women's Hockey game and they shut out Oswego State in Oswego. Then I thought to myself what a great night for EC Athletics. So congratulations to the coaches, players, training staff and athletics support staff for a great Friday night! If you want to see the box scores or EC's teams check out http://www.elmira.edu/athletics/sports.

Welcome to the Elmira College Blog!!

Hello All,

I wanted to be the first to welcome you to Elmira College's Blog site. Over the next few weeks, current EC students will be updating this site with what’s going on in their lives. So check out what they are up to and it may give you an insight to why Elmira is such a great small college. In addition, various administrators will contribute to keep everyone updated on new campus happenings.

As for the Office of Admissions, we are busy and very excited about our Class of 2013 that is already shaping up to be an amazing class with great potential. We already are coming up on that time of the year when students are making that big decision. Each year I look forward to the spring and decision season. It never gets old to congratulate a student when they decide that they have chosen to attend Elmira College.

Also, I have to congratulate my student workers, Billy Dieffenbacher '09 and Tracy Finerson '11. Billy who is an Art major at EC just recently won a design contest. The Elmira Pioneers who are a local amateur baseball team comprised of regional college talent picked Billy's redesign as their new logo. Tracy deserves some congratulations as well. Tracy will be doing her internship this Term 3 http://www.elmira.edu/academics/distinctive_programs/term_III. She will be working back home in Syracuse, NY at Upstate Medical University in the admissions office. If you would like to congratulate them yourself or hear what else they are up to feel free to email them at bdieffenbacher09@elmira.edu and tfinerson11@elmira.edu.

So check out this part of the Elmira College website because it will be updated frequently. In the meantime if you have any admissions questions feel free to contact me @ pjackson@elmira.edu. Later!
